UN Security Council monitoring report identifies AQIS as responsible for the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort

New Delhi, India: A United Nations Security Council monitoring report has attributed the November 2025 attack near Delhi’s Red Fort to Al-Qaida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).
The attribution appears in the 38th report of the UN Security Council’s Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team, according to reports published following the release of the document.
The report also raises concerns over AQIS activities in the region, including efforts to establish operational cells in Bangladesh, highlighting continuing security concerns linked to the group in South Asia.
The November 2025 explosion near the Red Fort in New Delhi triggered a major security response and an investigation by Indian authorities. The latest UN assessment provides an international attribution linking the attack to AQIS.
The development is significant for India’s counter-terrorism efforts and comes amid wider international monitoring of Al-Qaida-linked networks and their activities across South Asia.
The UN monitoring mechanism continues to assess the capabilities, networks and regional activities of groups associated with Al-Qaida and other organisations subject to UN sanctions.
