Security personnel along the Morocco-Spain border deployed tear gas and established heavy perimeter security outside the Moroccan border town of Fnideq to prevent hundreds of migrants from staging a second mass crossing into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. The heightened alert comes two weeks after an unprecedented influx saw tens of thousands breach maritime barriers and breakwaters around Tarajal and Benzú.

The latest escalation followed coordinated social media calls encouraging another wide-scale border breach targeting the European outpost. Moroccan police intercepted over 294 individuals and made dozens of arrests in the surrounding hills as crowds attempted to advance toward the perimeter fence. Across the border, Spanish authorities deployed military personnel to safeguard critical infrastructure and stationed over 1,600 police officers alongside newly constructed maritime barriers to secure the enclave.

The recurring border crises highlight growing diplomatic and security pressures across North Africa and the western Mediterranean. With local reception centers in Ceuta operating drastically beyond capacity, Spanish and Moroccan officials are facing intense international scrutiny regarding border enforcement, maritime rescues, and human trafficking operations along the enclave's perimeter.
